What is the SBCSA

Our Fleet

Optimist

Youth lessons are given in our fleet of Optimist prams, an ideal training boat for children and youth under 16. It is 7' 8" long with a single, 35 square foot sail. Used worldwide for training and racing, the Optimist is the world's largest sailing class.

RS Feva

The latest addition to our fleet, the RS FEVA is a favorite of our youth and adult sailors. This 12 ft, two person, high performance sailing dinghy is easy to rig and a blast to sail. It can be sailed with main only, with main and jib, or the asymmetric spinnaker can be launched for added fun. Our fleet of four RS FEVAs is used for the Intermediate Youth classes and is available for Open Sailing.

Transfusion

Intermediate Youth and Adult Introduction to Sailing classes are taught using our fleet of three Transfusion 547s. The Transfusion is a light, stable, 16-foot family day sailor with mainsail and jib. It is a great training boat, but is also sensitive and challenging for the more experienced sailor and can carry a spinnaker. The Transfusions are typically sailed with a crew of three or four.

Compac 16 “Alongshore”

With a swing keel and a roller furling genoa jib, the Compac 16 is a stable, easily sailed boat. It has a small cuddy cabin and is suitable for day sailing by 2-3 adults. This boat is set up for sailing by physically challenged sailors

San Juan 24 “Sharp Cheddar”

A good performing, responsive 24 foot keel boat, Sharp Cheddar is a great boat for sailing on Saginaw Bay. It can be used for overnight trips to local ports such as AuGres and Caseville.
